September Book Club
This month we are reading Vacuum in the Dark by Jen Beagin. Our Book Club Event will be held on September 28th at Up Up Books from 5:30-7:30pm.
Our venue is a fairly new book store owned and run by Michelle. She is a wonderful member of the community, providing a space for healing/self discovery/nurturing through the power of literature. Michelle works hard to create a welcoming environment to all and is so knowledgeable in many areas and ever willing to engage in conversation and connection. I encourage all to shop and support her local business as we spend time in this space.

This month’s event will be a dinner party. Food will be made by local artist and cook, Angie Barrios. Angie is the genius behind Comparta, a project created to honor her Colombian culture and to bring people together.
From her website, “Her need to begin this project came through wanting to cultivate more experiences and spaces where people from all backgrounds, all socio-economic thresholds, all walks of life, could come together and get to know one another.” I am so honored and excited to have her join our event.
The menu for the evening is as follows:
Sautéed Fennel with Lentils & Lemon
Warm Pesto Barley & Roasted Cauliflower
Chanterelle Ravioli
Baked Trout/Cod with Citrus
Pear Tart
—
Wine and Beverages will be included as well.
—
Along with dinner, we will have games, prizes and a discussion of this month’s book.
